From Trauma to Resilience: Two Days of Healing Workshops with Starhawk and Ravyn Stanfield

June 8 & 9 in Portland, OR

We live in traumatic times, and to withstand them and transform the world into one more just and kind, we need reserves of spirit, solidarity and resilience. In this healing weekend, Starhawk and Ravyn share insights and tools for healing that come from many disciplines: the ancient psychology and earth-based spirit embedded in the traditions of magic, and energetic techniques from Western herbalism and Chinese medicine.

Understanding & Transforming Trauma for Personal Healing
Saturday, June 8 10am-4pm @ Carvlin Hall in SE Portland

Understanding what trauma is, trauma’s impact on the brain and limbic systems, trauma and helplessness, transforming trauma, healing spiritual practice, herbs and energetic support. The day will close with a Community acupuncture session provided by Acupuncturists Without Borders. 


Transforming Collective Trauma for Resilient Communities
Sunday June 9
10am-4pm @ Jean's Farm in SE Portland

Cultural and collective trauma and how we internalize it, traumatic patterns and how they play out in community: recognizing and transforming them. Creating community rituals for healing. The day will close with a co-created ritual.

Bios:
Starhawk is a life-long activist who has trained and supported groups and actions from anti-nuke blockades in the eighties to Palestine solidarity work. She is the co-founder of the Reclaiming tradition and the author or coauthor of thirteen books on earth-based spirituality, Paganism, Goddess religion and activism, including the classics The Spiral DanceThe Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups, her visionary novel The Fifth Sacred Thing and its long-awaited sequel, City of Refuge. Starhawk directs Earth Activist Trainings, teaching permaculture design grounded in spirit and with a focus on organizing and activism. She travels internationally, lecturing and teaching on earth-based spirituality, the tools of ritual, and the skills of activism.

G. Ravyn Stanfield  is a cultural alchemist, writing to transform the heartbreak of our times and reveal the gold in what seems worthless. Her fiction and essays have been published in The Rumpus, Guernica, Manifest Station. Nailed Magazine, and Wake Up World. She is the author of Revolution of the Spirit: Awaken the Healer, a guide to liberate the super powers within each of us. She is the Executive Director of Acupuncturists Without Borders, a nonprofit that provides trauma relief treatments to communities hit by natural disasters and human conflict. She designs trainings for emerging leaders and healers in the US, Canada, Europe, Nepal, Israel/Palestine, and Australia. She uses her background in trauma recovery, writing, neurobiology, and theatre to coax more of the extraordinary into the world through the cracks in Western civilization, and has presented.
