About Pitch A Tent
Pitch a tent is a public camp out designed to raise awareness about the criminalization of homelessness in Portland and across the Oregon. Each year in anticipation of the Rose Parade, the City of Portland ceases its camping ban so that housed folks can reserve space to watch the parade.
This event is a direct action, and community block party. Set up begins around 10.30am on Fri, June 7 at SW 4th & Washington. This is when people (anyone) can start setting up their tents (to stay the night) along the parade route. This is also the time we will start setting up for the entertainment and food. It's about celebrating and coming together. Entertainment & hot food starts at 3 pm (most likely earlier). We will have music throughout the night. Come and enjoy yourself, and have conversations about how important human rights are! See you there! For questions about Pitch A Tent, please email pitchatentpdx@gmail.com There are needs for volunteers, musicians, poets, speakers to fill in the evening programming.
