Learn basic carpentry skills with this hands on project. We will construct a 10'x12' backyard shed with a gambrel roof. Donna has taught several classes for women, and a few for children in the SF Bay Area. This class is open to all persons and skill levels, including kids 14 and up who are accompanied by an adult. Donna loves to teach a carpentry and circumstances provided this excellent opportunity to learn basic skills and construction techniques. With these skills you can build almost anything!
Our project will run from Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8 and beyond if necessary. Hours will be 9:30am to 3pm with lunch provided each day between 12pm, and 12:45pm. Pulehu Pizza will be on the menu some days.
Monday we will build a foundation and floor.
Tuesday/Wednesday we will build walls with door and window openings.
Thursday/Friday we'll build roof trusses and roof.
Roofing shingles, doors and window installation as time permits.
If possible, please bring your own gloves, eye protection, tool belts/aprons, hammers (finish and framing), a cat's paw/pry bar, a quick square, and a tape measurer.
