Jean’s Farm is a magical oasis of a farm, edged by forest and a creek, inside the city! This site hosts educational programs for children, permaculture workshops, training and tours for adults, and a vegetable CSA.
For this year’s VBC, we plan to build two structures that will nearly complete a 5-year infrastructure improvement process. A new kitchen counter will be built underneath the roof made during last year’s VBC, and a Japanese torii gateway will be completed and installed that we began preparations on last year.
Jean’s Farm will host a number of guests and delegations from Japan and the theme of cross-cultural exchange will be prominent throughout the events. Check our schedule for details on what we’re planning!
***please note: THERE IS NO VEHICLE ACCESS TO THE FARM. Street address is for walk-ins only. No parking or stopping at gated address. No exceptions. Cars should park on SE 36th Ave and walk to the entrance. We strongly encourage coming by bike or by public transportation. Bus #34 and #75 both stop very close to this location (Stop ID: 3083).
***Please arrive quietly to be respectful of neighbors and say hi to Steve, the landowner, if you see him. Also, because site hosts educational programs, please only visit during specified project and event times. Do not attempt to access the site from any way other than the one specified here. Thank you!!
We are looking for fabulous people to create lunch for all the volunteers - hopefully working with what’s growing on the Farm :) Or people who can source food donations to feed the volunteers :)
