Painting Project
June 1st and 2nd
Help us paint the walls of the Lents Community Footbridge! We will have food and music while you paint over some taped off letters--no painting experience needed! For everyone who participates, The Portland Pickles are providing free game tickets for their game that night! We may even have some players AND Dillon the Pickle painting in our midst!
The Lents Neighborhood was unceremoniously bisected in 1985 with the construction of the I-205 freeway. Regardless, the neighborhood has maintained its identity, with Lents Park on one side and the Oliver P. Lent K-8 school on the other. The bridge is a symbol of the resilience of the neighborhood, and yet it is often graffitied and trash-strewn. We hope to imbue the space with the spirit of the community with our intentional graffiti to create a space of artful joy!
June 1, 4-6pm: Pressure washing the walls and tidying up the bridge (we want a clean canvas for our painting!)
June 2, 7-9am: Taping up the paper letters (We will paint the negative space around letters spelling out Lents Neighborhood Footbridge)
8-2pm: Painting! We will have bagels and coffee to fuel the early helpers and lunch later in the day. Every painter will receive a ticket to a Pickles game!
