Event Description:

“Public space” is shifting radically in response to Covid-19. New routines are emerging in encounters with strangers and in our relationship to the built environment. In this context, let's take a walk! We’re going to practice our evacuation routes for when cabin fever sets in, or we’re lost in a news loop, or we’re too overwhelmed to respond to everything that’s going on.

Starting at our own doorsteps, we will embark on an exploration of the internal and external landscapes of our neighborhoods. Can we find safe zones where our bodies meet public space? Can we use technology to create a collective impression of the space and time we're in?

Zeph Fishlyn will guide, with soundscapes by Shawn Creeden. We will be using our phones in a variety of ways to create a visual document of our collective journey.

Approximately one hour. Sliding scale donations encouraged, no one turned away for lack of funds. To register click here.

Artist Bio: Zeph Fishlyn (pronouns they/them) is a multidisciplinary visual artist dedicated to personal and collective storytelling as nonlinear tools for reinventing our world. Zeph’s participatory projects, drawings, objects and installations nurture alternative narratives by questioning, dreaming, distorting, celebrating and demanding. Their most recent work explores absurdity, embodiment, intimacy and playfulness as sources of resilience and creative subterfuge. Zeph is also a serial collaborator with grassroots groups focused on social and economic justice and LGBTQ liberation.
