The Barrel Cob Oven and Free Hutch being installed at Booty House for VBC 2018 is only the latest community infrastructure this residential community offers! Booty House hosts a Food not Bombs kitchen, which is used by the local Wednesday Montavilla chapter of Food not Bombs - an organization that takes surplus food and shares it for free in regular public events. Booty House is also the site of The Order Headquarters - a Community Supported Brewing (CSB) homebrewing organization that provides infrastructure and education in community homebrewing of beer, Kombucha and other beverages. The Barrel Cob Oven will be used for cooking Food not Bombs meals, making food during Community Supported Brewing events, and for other events once it is built! Booty House also has a large garden in the front yard, hop trellises in the back yard, and plans to provide plant starts to the public in the Free Hutch installed near the sidewalk.

Sunday, June 3rd @ 12-5pm: We will be putting pumice cob on the stem wall of the oven and installing the fire bricks for the oven chamber and fire chamber; then possibly installing the barrel. As for the Free Hutch: we will either be installing it or putting finishing touches on it. Home-brewed Kombucha (tea) will be on tap and we will break around 1:30pm for a lunch with vegan food.

Tuesday, June 5th @ 12pm-5pm: We will be installing the fire brick baffles (inner arches), applying pumice cob, and maybe the armature over the baffles. Home-brewed Kombucha (tea) will be on tap and we will break around 1:30pm for a lunch with vegan food.

Thursday, June 7th @ 12pm-5pm: We will be installing the outer fire brick arches and applying pumice cob. Maybe installing the front metal doors. Home-brewed Kombucha (tea) will be on tap and we will break around 1:30pm for a lunch with vegan food.

Saturday, June 9th @ 12pm-5pm: We will be applying cob to the entire outside of the oven and cleaning up. Finishing other things that did not get completed. We may fire it up today! Home-brewed Kombucha (tea) will be on tap, and we will break around 1:30pm for a lunch with vegan food.
